Remember that in order for students to attend the Dance-a-Thon event, they must return that pledge form signed by their parent (with or without a donation) - Grade 5s are finishing up Book Clubs over the next few weeks. - Due to this week being a short week, we have decided to push back the dictée to next week (Friday March 1), so students have 2 weeks to study and practice this week's words and verb conjugations. - French book orders were sent home this week and are due on Tuesday, March 5. This will be the last set of book orders for this year! - Check out Class Dojo for some photos of our new flexible seating layout in portable 1!
- Book orders were due Friday February 1 and orders should be arriving soon! - Students are working on their Health PSAs, which should be completed at school. Only the filming of the final product should take place at home, after their planning sheet has been seen and approved by me. Looking forward to seeing their creativity in this project! Not too much going on this week: - We are beginning new Social Studies units: grade 5 = First Nations and European Explorers, grade 4 = Early Societies. Make sure to ask your child about what he/she is learning in these areas; it can make for some very interesting discussion! - Thank you to everyone who has signed and sent back rubrics that have been sent home recently, as well as the mark update sheets. Once again, if you would like to set up a meeting to discuss any marks at this point please let me know and I will be happy to meet with you. ** Please ensure that your child has a pair of outdoor shoes and a separate pair of indoor shoes at school. Now that we have snow it is especially important for them to change their shoes when they enter the portable, otherwise the floor gets wet and dirty very quickly! Thanks! Happy New Year!!!
This week we will be working on goal-setting and some New Year's resolutions, as well as finishing up a couple of assignments from before the break. Next week we will be getting back into more of our regular routine, starting up dictées again, daily centres, etc. Exciting news... we have received a grant for some new furniture to move the classroom toward a more flexible-seating style. This will be set up gradually over the next few weeks, as the furniture slowly arrives. I am hoping this will help to build students' independence and help them learn how/where they work best. Pictures to come once the transformation is complete! I will be sending mark updates home next week so that you have an idea of your child's marks before the first term report cards go home in February. If you would like to meet with me to discuss any of the marks please check the box and send it back to school, or send me a message on Class Dojo and I will be happy to meet with you.
